Let Second Year Commence!

Hello! I am currently writing this from my new bed, in my new room, in my new flat, in Derby! For those of you who don't know, I moved back to Derby on Friday to get ready for my second year of university. It has been so nice being re-united with my friends and being back in my second home! I'm living in halls again this year so I thought I would take a few snaps of my room before and after so that you could see what it's like!

So this is my room before all the organising and decorating. It was craziness in there for a good few hours!

I also discovered that my sink had a leak! My carpet was soaking wet and it smelt quite badly of damp which wasn't good. Someone did come to have a look at the sink and they should be back in another few days to properly fix it...I hope! As for the carpet I sprinkled some shake-and-vac powder stuff on it and it seems to have gotten rid of the smell thankfully.

After much encouragement from one of my flatmates I finally managed to deal with the mayhem in my room and get it looking all nice and pretty and organised!
The pictures above show my desk area and around my door. I love the desks here because they're so big and spacious! Perfect for when I'm writing essays and need to spread my notes out everywhere.

This is what my sink looks like and the area around my wardrobe. I bought the full length mirror from Ikea yesterday. It's super handy because it's one that you can just stick onto any surface!

This is probably my favourite part of my room! My bed haha! It's such a super cosy little corner and my mattress is incredibly comfy this year (unlike last year) which is great! The downside is that it may make it harder to get out of when I have early morning lectures...
If you're wondering what the floraliness is on the walls it's just wallpaper that I stuck on the noticeboards that were already there.

This is my window. Isn't it pretty? Although it just seems like my view is a bush from this picture, it's actually a bit more exciting than that. When you look down you can see the river and there's so much wildlife to watch, it's just so peaceful! I love it!

The rest of the flat isn't really that exciting. The toilet and the shower are just your bog standard toilet and shower haha but I thought I would show you the kitchen as it's maybe a wee bit more exciting.
We bought a table cloth from Ikea yesterday and you can also see the bunting that I made is up! It makes it look a little homier I think.

Now I'm off to do what students do best when they don't have work to tv, eat junk food and party!
I'm just kidding, I actually eat quite healthily and I was in bed by 11 last night haha...I'm getting too old for this student life ;)

Absolute Chaos life is in a state of complete and utter chaos right be honest that's a bit of an exaggeration. It's more just my room that is chaos but since it's the space where I spend many hours of my day it can start to affect me emotionally when things aren't quite right!

Just take a look at the state it was in a couple of hours ago!

And look at the state I was in haha!

As you can see most of my clothes are not even in my suitcase! Over the weekend I had started to pack my clothes and I had managed to keep things generally quite tidy, however today I needed something that turned out to be at the very bottom of the case and since I'm not very good at looking for things patiently or neatly, I ended up pretty much unpacking the entirety of my suitcase!

I'm flying over to Derby on Friday for my second year of uni and you would think that because I won't be a newbie this year I would be a little less nervous and anxious. Well it turns out I'm a lot more nervous than what I thought I would be. I've been finding it really hard to get to sleep the past couple of nights and I've even started to break out a little. It's probably because uni is on my mind more or less 24/7 now and I'm feeling a mixture of emotions. Don't get me wrong though, I am also super excited! I can't wait to see my friends again (who are basically like my second family) and get back to student life!
I think I'll feel a lot better once I have everything packed and organised again! Only 3 more sleeps!

Crawfordsburn Country Park

I never used to like country parks...I don't know why but they just never really did it for me. Over the years though I have come to appreciate their beauty and now actually get quite excited at the thought of going to explore a forest or woodland area!

Over the weekend my family and I went to have a wee wander around Crawfordsburn Country Park. We hadn't been there in years and since the sun was shining (which is a rare occurrence here) we thought we better make the most of it!

Despite not really knowing what to expect, we happily marched into the forest singing One Direction (as it had just been playing in the car) and were really pleasantly surprised at how pretty the place was!

How cool is this bridge? It reminds me of something that you would see in a movie like Jurassic Park for some reason haha..

You've probably noticed by now that I love a good macro shot so of course I had to throw one in this post ;)

In my family we also like silly shots so here are a few of the ones we took!

We also managed to get a few nice ones...

...just about!

I hope you enjoyed this post! See you again soon :)

Who doesn't love bunting?

In all my nineteen years of living on this planet I have yet to meet someone who doesn't like a bit of bunting! It's just so pretty and really brightens up a room, what's not to love about that?
My Nana had asked me a few weeks ago if I could make her some bunting to frame one of the windows in her house. Since I'm leaving for uni on Friday I thought I should get a move on and make some!

I ended up making two sets in the for my Nana and the other for me to take away to uni to decorate the kitchen with since uni halls can sometimes be quite plain and boring.(I'm going into 2nd year but my friends and I decided just to live in halls for another year!)

The bunting with the navy binding is for my uni kitchen and the white is for my Nana.

Bunting is super simple to make and the results are always so satisfying! Just look at how pretty it is!

I hope you're having a lovely weekend!

My Favourite Place

Before the summer if someone were to ask me about my favourite place in Northern Ireland I would have a pretty hard time answering them. It's not that I particularly dislike Northern Ireland it's just that there aren't many places that I am in love with...if it's possible to be in love with a place?
Over the summer however, I fell in love haha. I Fell in love with a place that is now definitely on my list of favourite places in the world!

This is Mount Stewart, a National Trust property in County Down, Northern Ireland. I have been here a few times in the past but for some reason when I visited again this summer it just sort of captured me. I know it sounds cheesy but I don't know how else to describe it...

This 18th Century house really is grand and has many different gardens and even a lake to wander round and explore.

I think the reason why I love it here so much is because I can escape. When you wander around the gardens you feel so secluded and far away from the rest of the world but in a good way...I forget everything that's going on in my life for a little while and it's honestly the best feeling.

If you're ever in the area and get a chance to visit this place you absolutely must! It's just so pretty and magical looking!

I hope you're having a good week :)
